Players & teams: 4 players in 2 teams of 2 (partners sit across). First team to 10 points wins.

The deck: 24 cards — 9, 10, J, Q, K, A in each of 4 suits. Deal 5 cards to each player.

Bowers: The Jack of trump is the Right Bower (highest card). The Jack of the same-color suit is the Left Bower (second highest, counts as trump).

Calling trump (Round 1): Dealer flips a card face-up. Each player in turn may "order it up" (dealer takes it, discards one). If all pass, go to Round 2.

Calling trump (Round 2): Each player may call any suit except the turned-down one. If all pass again, the hand is thrown in and re-dealt.

Going alone: The caller may go alone — partner sits out. All 5 tricks alone = 4 points.

Scoring:

• Calling team takes 3 or 4 tricks: +1 point
• Calling team takes all 5 (march): +2 points
• Going alone, takes all 5: +4 points
• Going alone, takes 3–4: +1 point
• Calling team euchred (0–2 tricks): opponents get +2 points
